We had some creative Sharks last week in Media/Stem. We read Peter Reynold's book, The Dot. The Dot is a self-confidence story of a little girl, Veshti, who is upset and angry that she cannot draw anything.
After listening to the story the students were given a "DOT" challenge. Kindergarten - First Graders received an index card with a dot on it. They had to create a picture of something using the dot as their focal point. Second - Fifth Graders had to construct the tallest free standing Dot Tower using only 12 index cards, 20 dots, and scissors.
Before leaving class, students were treated to a piece of DOT candy for their hard work, cooperative learning, and eagerness to accept the challenge given to them.
