Salt Water Density

Mr. Brad Gardner's 6th Graders had fun with water in science today. They learned that water with more salt is denser and will move to the bottom while water with less salt is less dense, so it stays at the top. They discussed how differences in the amount of salt in ocean water can create deep water ocean currents, which moves thermal energy around our planet. This became evident when Mr. Gardner's students colored their water samples with differing salt densities!
