Join PCSD for a LIVE parent event – Snapchat & Instagram Risks

Is your child begging for, or already using, Snapchat and Instagram? If so, join PCSD Superintendent Dr. Rick Surrency along with SmartSocial on Wednesday, November 5th at 7:00PM for a LIVE virtual event, designed to help parents learn why their kids want to Snapchat or Instagram and hidden risks you need to know about!:

These apps can be fun and creative, but big risks are hiding behind features like disappearing chats or “spam” and “finsta” accounts. What feels private to your teen can actually fuel comparison, anxiety, cyberbullying, and risky behavior.

Our Fall Festival wouldn’t have been the same without our amazing parent volunteers — Lisa DePriest, Holly Neufeld, Latricia Coley, and Christina Simmons — who dedicated their time and energy setting up for our big event! 💪🎉

A huge shout out to Alli Ray and The Banner Brush for designing and donating the most perfect banners for our Laugh and Scare Floors. They truly brought the Monsters, Inc. magic to life! 💚✨

We also want to thank SignGypsies of Putnam County for helping complete the look with their incredible display that made our courtyard scream with fun! 💜🎈

A big thank you to the PHS Interact Club for their amazing face painting skills and to our awesome 6th grade volunteers and staff kiddos who helped keep the fun rolling all night long! 🎨👏

And of course, we can’t forget the wonderful parents of our KSES Monsters who donated candy and food drive items. Your generosity made our event even sweeter and helped our community in a big way! 🍬💖🥫

We’re so grateful for all the hands (and claws!) that made this year’s Fall Festival such a roaring success! 🩵🧡💚

Congratulations to Mrs. Casi Hinton, our 25-26 Support Related Employee of the Year! Miss Casi, as she is affectionately known by our Sharks, is at the heart of KSES, taking care of everything from the books to the community and business partners each day. We’re so proud to have her represent us this year!

Our 4th grade Sharks had an incredible day stepping back in time at the “Occupation of Palatka Civil War Living History” event! Students experienced firsthand what life was like during the Civil War, learning through reenactments, artifacts, and stories that brought history to life.
A huge thank you to the organizers and volunteers who made this educational opportunity possible. Our students walked away with a deeper understanding of the past and plenty of memories to share! 💙🦈

🌟 October is National Principals Month! 🌟

In Putnam County, our principals do more than manage schools — they inspire futures. They guide teachers, encourage students, partner with families, and bring communities together so learning can thrive. Their leadership makes a lasting impact on every classroom and every child.

This month, and every month, we celebrate our PCSD principals for leading with heart, vision, and dedication. Thank you for helping us shape tomorrow, today. 💙💚

Attendance Matters: FTE Week is October 6–10!

Every student counts–literally! During FTE Week, the state of Florida calculates school funding based on student attendance. If a student is absent, they are not included in the count, and our schools lose vital funding for teachers, programs, and services.

Make sure your child is in school every day October 6–10! Together, we can give PCSD students the resources they need to succeed.
